T1 RS-Series
The Dunkerbeck/Thommen Saga continues with the introduction of the T1 RS-Series.
The T1 RS-Series is designed for windsurfers looking for uncompromised performance: High end speed in a broad wind range and control in even the most challenging conditions. Designing the RS-Series Peter Thommen teamed up with living windsurf icon Bjorn Dunkerbeck. He has dominated slalom and racing events for over a decade, harvesting an extraordinaire 12 world champion titles along the way. He is still the most demanding and most discriminating test pilot Peter has ever come across in his 25 year design and shape career: “I just know I can trust Bjorn’s judgment. – He has sensors in his feet!”
Today, Bjorn focuses on speed attempts and Pro/Am events like crossings and long distance races. “That is a lot closer to the windsurfing public. I want people to be able to come up to us, talk to us, question us, race us and have a good time on and off the water!”
The T1 RS-Series main feature is an elaborate bottom shape: a complex, yet subtle mix of single to double concave and planning bevels. These are slightly angled from the wide point towards the nose to smooth transitions and enhance control in choppy conditions. Deep cut-outs in the tail section not only reduce the wetted surface (thus reducing resistance) but dramatically stabilize the board’s planning angle by effectively reducing surplus power under the back foot and tail walking. You will experience a much steadier ride even in the worst conditions.
